Frequently asked questions

Everything about cleaning your iPhone photos with PicSwipe. Updated July 10, 2026.

Using PicSwipe

How does swipe-to-delete work?

Your photos appear one at a time as full-screen cards, grouped by month and year. Swipe left to delete, swipe right to keep. A red DELETE or green KEEP stamp confirms each decision, and an undo button fixes slips. Deleted photos go to the PhotoBin first — nothing is removed without your final confirmation. Learn more →

How do I start using PicSwipe?

Download the app, grant photo library access when prompted, and your photos are automatically organized by month and year. Pick a month and start swiping — right to keep, left to delete. Learn more →

Why aren't photos deleted from my camera roll when I swipe?

On the free plan, photos are permanently deleted once you complete an entire month — a safety feature that guarantees you've seen every photo before anything is removed. Premium users can open the PhotoBin at any time to delete immediately. Learn more →

How does the monthly completion requirement work?

PicSwipe organizes your photos by month and year. To permanently delete a month's photos, you first review every photo in that month. Each month shows a progress counter and gets a checkmark when finished. Learn more →

Does PicSwipe find duplicate photos?

PicSwipe shows photos full-screen in the order you took them, so duplicates and burst shots appear back-to-back — easy to spot, easy to swipe away. For byte-identical copies, run Apple's built-in Duplicates merge first, then swipe the near-duplicates it can't detect. Learn more →

Deleting & recovering photos

What is the PhotoBin?

The PhotoBin is where photos go when you swipe left. Instead of being removed immediately, they wait for your review — restore any photo with a tap, or delete permanently when you're sure. A second chance for every photo. Learn more →

Can I recover a photo I deleted by accident?

Yes, three safety nets: the undo button while swiping, restoring from the PhotoBin before you empty it, and iOS's Recently Deleted album, which holds permanently deleted photos for 30 more days. Learn more →

What's the fastest way to mass delete photos?

Pick a month in PicSwipe and swipe left on everything that isn't a memory — each decision takes under a second, so a 500-photo month clears in about ten minutes. Then empty the PhotoBin and iOS Recently Deleted to free the space immediately. Learn more →

How much storage will I actually free up?

iPhone photos run 2–8 MB each, so clearing a few thousand duplicates, screenshots, and blurry shots typically frees several gigabytes. PicSwipe shows the megabytes saved after every session and your all-time total. Learn more →

Privacy & security

Are my photos uploaded to your servers?

No — never. All processing happens on your device. Your photos are not uploaded to our servers or any cloud service, and no account is required. What's on your phone stays on your phone.

Does PicSwipe work offline?

Yes. Because everything runs on-device, PicSwipe works completely offline. Internet is only used for app updates and subscription management.

Can I revoke photo access permissions?

Yes, anytime, via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos. PicSwipe simply won't be able to display or manage photos until you grant access again.

Premium & billing

What do I get with premium?

Instant PhotoBin access — manage deleted photos immediately without completing a full month — plus advanced organization features and priority support.

How do I subscribe or manage my subscription?

Subscribe directly in the app. Billing runs through Apple's App Store, and you can manage or cancel anytime in your Apple ID settings — no separate account needed.

Technical

What photo formats are supported?

JPEG, HEIC, PNG, and most other formats iOS supports. Videos aren't swipeable yet, but they may be added in a future update.

How much space does the app itself use?

Around 25 MB. PicSwipe doesn't store copies of your photos — it displays and organizes what's already on your device, so the app's own footprint stays tiny.

The app crashes or something isn't working — what do I do?

Restart the app, then your device. If the problem persists, email support@swipepic.app with the issue details and your device model — we typically respond within 24 hours.
